Funk & Wagnalls was a 20th century publisher of encyclopedias, reference works, and dictionaries.

After being chastised by Major Duke Danton for intercepting a group of Hatchet fighter during a training exercise, Captain William "Buck" Rogers enter a sparring match, referencing this 20th century dictionary publisher in the process (BR25: "Planet of the Slave Girls").

If you call that interference, there's something wrong with your Funk and Wagnalls.
I don't know what you mean by that, but how'd you like to repeat that in the flight hangar?
I'd love to.

Notes

  • In a bit of irony, Funk & Wagnalls no longer became a dominant force in reference works and dictionaries by the end of the 20th century.
  • The use of this publisher in dialogue has resulted in some viewers believing that vulgarity was used.
