Biography

Brigadier Gordon (no first name given, but we are given hints at what it might be) is a retired training instructor and former flight officer in the Earth Defense Directorate.

He came out of retirement in 2491 A.D. when the Directorate was disastrously short of the fighter pilots needed for an urgent pre-emptive assault on an enemy fleet.

Gordon was portrayed by former Olympic athlete and veteran actor Buster Crabbe, who also played Flash Gordon in the 1936 movie serial of the same name and its two sequels, and in 1939 played the title role of the Buck Rogers serial.

Is Brigadier Gordon who we think he might be?

Buck is impressed with Gordon's shooting skills against Kaleel's fighters, given that such raw skill was uncommon with typical 25th century era pilots who (to their detriment) relied heavily on computers for combat.

Buck: Gordon, where did you learn to shoot like that?

Gordon: I've been doing that since before you were born Captain.

Buck: (amused skepticism): You really think so?

Gordon: (with a grin): Young man...I know so.
